Where to Eat in Mount Hood

The Mount Hood Community College Aquatic Center has tons of great restaurants all around it, and we’ve put together some of the best places and meals all in one place for your convenience. Swim meets can be stressful, and searching for a good meal can take up valuable time, so save time and go through this list to make your life easier!

Black Bear Diner

A welcoming chain diner with great meal options from breakfast to lunch to dinner. Online ordering makes it very convenient and you can be sure Black Bear Diner will fuel you well for your meet. 

Shasta Scramble

A healthy breakfast scramble with eggs, avocado, spinach, tomato, onion, and peppers. Get Fruit and Sourdough Bread for your sides to really level it up and meet all of your nutrient needs!

Fit & Focused Chicken Scramble

Chicken Sausage, Egg Whites, Avocado, Spinach, Mushroom… What’s not to love about a healthy and nutrient-dense breakfast! Keep the Sourdough and Fruit options as well for the sides. 

Blackened Pesto Salmon

Grilled Salmon, Pesto Sauce, Spinach, Tomatoes, Mashed Potatoes, and Mixed Veggies. This meal is a great source of protein, carbs, and Omega-3s which are great for helping you recover after a hard session at a meet. 

Pesto Fettuccine with Chicken

A local restaurant with overwhelmingly positive reviews. A bit pricier than the other options, but you can be sure to get bang for your buck and get a meal that is both tasty and good for you. This place has tons and tons of great options; you could spend every meal here for the entirety of the meet and never get bored of it. 

Sunrise Bowl

Granola, Yogurt, and Berries. A quick and healthy option with protein and carbs. Great for a quick bite on the way to the pool or a snack in between sessions. 

Avocado Terminator Toast

Toast, Avocado, Sea Salt, and Lemon. Add an egg (or two) for some necessary protein to create a great breakfast option packed with all the carbs, protein, and omega-3s you need for performance and recovery!

Roasted Beet Salad with Chicken

Lettuce, Goat Cheese, Lemon Oil, Hazelnut, Roasted Beet. Add grilled chicken for a nice protein punch. Beets contain high levels of magnesium and potassium which are essential electrolytes. Beets also aid your body in production of nitric oxide which is huge for athletic performance!

Pan Seared Salmon Fillet

Salmon, Wild Rice, Asparagus. Carbs, Protein, and Fats (and Omega-3s!), what else could you ask for?

Bolognese Pasta

Pappardelle pasta, Ground Brisket, Chuck & Sirloin Beef, San Marzano Tomatoes, Garlic, Parmesan. A great meal to have for dinner after a long session. Carbs to refuel and Protein to rebuild and recover.

A Pacific-Northwest chain staple. A great restaurant to start your day out with an Omelet or Scramble, and an even better place to end your day with some Seafood or other Dinner option. 

Garden Vegetable Omelet

Zucchini, Mushroom, Spinach, Tomato, Onion, Swiss Cheese. Comes with a side of Hashbrowns, Pancakes, or Fruit (Go with the Fruit!) and a biscuit. A great way to start your day with protein, carbs, and healthy fruits and veggies. 

Veggie and Egg Whites Bowl

Egg Whites scrambled with Hashbrowns and mixed veggies and topped with Avocado. Comes with a biscuit but you can always ask to swap it for a side of fresh fruit. 

Roasted Turkey Breast Dinner

Roasted Turkey Breast, Side Salad, Mixed Veggies, and Mashed Potatoes. Turkey is high in protein, low in fat, and is a great source of B vitamins which have a wide array of health benefits. 

Slow Roasted Prime Rib

Prime Rib, Mashed Potatoes, Salad, and Mixed Veggies. Great source of protein and carbs, and you can never go wrong with some mixed greens and veggies on the side. 

Wild Pacific Salmon

Grilled Salmon, Green Onion, Avocado, Rice Pilaf, and Seasonal Vegetables. It’s hard to go wrong with a meal like this. You get great carbs from the Rice and Vegetables, along with a great source of protein and fats from the Salmon and Avocado. Great for replenishing your energy after a long session as well as reducing inflammation and soreness with the Omega-3 content of the Salmon and Avocado.

Chipotle is always a go-to place for me when traveling. There have been many meets where I have eaten Chipotle for lunch every day because of its convenience and consistency. It’s hard to go wrong with any option at Chipotle, just stick to a bowl, load up on protein and rice, add veggies, and skip the queso. For a little extra money get some guacamole to add some extra fat to help with recovery throughout the week.

A family-style Italian restaurant only a mile and a half from the pool. If you are looking for some good pasta or other Italian style dishes, try Ristorante Di Pompello. With a menu full of great pasta, salads, chicken, beef, and seafood, you will not be disappointed. 

Tuscan Salmon 

Pan-fried Salmon, Zucchini, Capers, Tomatoes, and Basil over Fettuccine Pasta. Another great seafood meal with plentiful carbs, proteins, and fats. Ideal for dinner to aid in recovery before bedtime. 

Tuscan Garlic Chicken

Chicken Breast, Roasted Garlic, Spinach, and Tomatoes on top of Fettuccine Pasta. A carb-loaded meal with lots of protein and vegetables with vital nutrients to refuel and get you ready for tomorrow’s prelims session. 

Spaghetti and Meatballs

Meatballs with Marinara Sauce and Spaghetti. A classic dish, but it’s a staple for a reason. If you want a meal that will leave you full and give you all of the carbs and protein you need to fuel for a meet, look no further. Ask for a side of veggies or fruit to make it complete.
