TYR Pro Swim Series Eats Fort Lauderdale, FL
Next stop of the TYR Pro Swim Series for USA Swimming is in Fort Lauderdale, Florida at the Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Center from March 1-4, 2023. This blog is great for athletes as well as families that will be spectating at the meet. Below you will find a list of great places to eat during your stay!
Vale Food Co
420 N Federal Hwy, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301
Vale Food Co is a healthy place to stop by and grab a quick casual meal. They also have a ton of healthy food bowl options, smoothies, poke bowls, avocado toast, and acai, dragon & chia pudding bowls! I love a good easy food bowl and an acai bowl full of nutritious foods. Below are some great options for breakfast or lunch.
Build Your Own Bowl Option
- Choose from a small, regular or super bowl
- You choose from a base, vegetable, protein, boost and sauce
- The options are endless from arugula & spinach, to sweet potatoes, roasted broccoli, pulled chicken, turkey meatballs with spinach and feta, as well as boosts and sauces of chipotle ranch, almonds and more
Califlorida Toast
- With smashed avocado, sunflower seeds, balsamic tomatoes and feta cheese
- It comes with a side of fruit or seasonal greens
- This is something great to have pre or post swim!
Earthsgiving Bowl
- Vale Rice, balsamic mushrooms, turkey spinach feta meatballs and chipotle ranch
- This meal has lean protein, veggies and a carbohydrate to refuel you for lunch after a prelims session
- You really can’t go wrong with any of their signature bowls!
Cafe Del Mar
101 S Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316
The Cafe Del Mar is known for its Italian food, fresh produce and seafood. It’s also located right on the water near the beach, so if you have never been to Fort Lauderdale or love to have a meal by the water that is healthy you should definitely check this restaurant out. They offer breakfast, lunch & dinner. Some great choices from the menu are the following:
Shrimp Scampi
- Served with shrimp, capers, white wine garlic sauce, fresh tomatoes and linguine pasta
- This meal is lighter so will digest easily and is great after a finals session for dinner
Salmon Burger
- Salmon is full of omega 3’s that will aid in your recovery as well as decreasing inflammation after racing. What comes on the burger is arugula, lemon, caper sauce, lettuce, tomatoes and pickles
- It is a better choice than meat as it digests easier than beef
- You can choose a house salad for a side instead of fries
Pan Seared Salmon
- Again, salmon is a great choice for a source of protein while competing as it is full of omega 3’s
- The salmon comes with mixed veggies and you can always add something additional from the sides like zucchini squash, rice pilaf and garlic mashed potatoes for a carbohydrate
Chicken Francese
- The entree is lighter with sauce and a lean protein that is a great option to have for dinner after a finals session.
- You can choose from the sides to add to your meal although it does come with mixed vegetables. Sides you can add are garlic mashed potatoes or rice pilaf
Burlock Coast Seafare & Spirits
1 N Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304
This restaurant is great for breakfast, lunch or dinner! It is a fun little market place and cafe that offers local coffee and bread. They are open for brunch on Saturday & Sunday. If you have an earlier event and finish prelims early it definitely would be a great place to grab breakfast/brunch. Below are some things you should try.
Steel Cut Oatmeal
- Steel cut oats served with tropical fruit jam, nuts and brown sugar
- Oatmeal is a great option for breakfast because it keeps you full while giving you the energy you need to compete
Avocado Toast
- Has two eggs, lettuce and tomatoes
- Avocado toast is a great option pre or post race because it has healthy fats from the avocado that will keep you full, and protein from the eggs as well as carbohydrates from the bread
Spicy Farmers Delight
- Is an omelet that has peppers, onions, squash and pepper jack cheese
- An omelet is also a great option for breakfast because it fuels you well with protein from the eggs and addition of vegetables mixed in
Egg White Omelet
- Is an omelet with tomatoes, spinach and mozzarella cheese
- Again, an omelet is also a great option for breakfast because it fuels you well with protein from the egg whites and addition of vegetables mixed in
They have “Boosts” that are healthy juices/smoothies to get as well to give you an extra boost of vitamins and minerals while traveling and competing.
Boatyard
1555 SE 17th St, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316
Boatyard is a fun restaurant that has indoor and outdoor seating located in a marina for yacht-watching. Not only is it a cool venue, but the food sounds amazing. They also serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Here are some healthy options on the menu for lunch and dinner that will help fuel you post prelims and finals.

JB&C Juice Bar
924 N Flagler Drive, Fort Lauderdale 33304-2608
JB&C Juice Bar and Cafe is your local place for smoothies, acai bowls, avocado toasts, paninis and salads. It is a cute and cozy little place that has delicious foods for breakfast and lunch. Definitely worth a try! Below are some delicious things off the menu that you can try.
Matcha Mint Chip Smoothie
- Banana, matcha green tea powder, peppermint, cacao nibs, baby spinach, agave and coconut milk
- This smoothie will give you a boost of energy with the matcha green tea powder that is slower acting and won’t give you the jittery feeling like coffee or espresso does while tasting that mint chocolate chip ice cream. This is a nice healthy sweet treat to have while you are competing
Super Green Superfood Bowl
- Blended banana, mango, baby spinach, organic green spirulina, and apple juice
- Topped with granola, kiwifruit, banana, hemp seeds, coconut flakes and goji berries
- This acai bowl will leave you feeling energized and ready to race with a mix of healthy fruits and toppings
- It is a great pick for a snack between prelims and before lunch. Pair it with a panini and you will be full for a while
Turkey Pesto Panini
- Local sourdough bread, oven roasted turkey breast, provolone cheese, sliced tomato, dijon mustard & house-made pesto
- This panini is great because turkey is a lean choice of protein and pesto actually decreases inflammation. Who doesn’t love sourdough bread? Especially when it is locally made
Farmer’s Avocado Toast
- Local multigrain toast, avocado mash, euro cucumber, grape tomato, radish, arugula, shallots, basil, parsley, feta, chia seeds and house-made citrus vinaigrette
- As always, you can’t go wrong with avocado toast. It’s one of the best brunch options
